Event presented by the Spinelli Foundation – 3rd Edition

The Université de Montréal’s Department of Neurosciences presents the third edition of the Spinelli Public Lectures on Parkinson’s Disease. This event will take place at Research Centre of the University Institute of Geriatrics of Montreal (CRIUGM) — in French on April 14 and in English on April 15.

Evening Program

Surgical approaches for Parkinson’s disease
This conference will focus on “Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson’s disease”, a cutting-edge therapy available to an increasing number of people living with the condition. The goal is to demystify what it means to “operate” on Parkinson’s by
discussing the benefits, risks, surgical steps, and long-term follow-up.

Cell replacement therapy in Parkinson’s disease
During this talk, we will discuss the ins and outs of cell therapy for Parkinson’s disease, with a focus on the patient populations most likely to benefit, the current state of stem cell-based clinical trials, and the challenges that must
be overcome for this therapy to become available as a clinical treatment.
